Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy historically has a holistic approach with a focus on mental health and the use of “occupation” as a method of healing. Karen’s work with children includes working with families, meeting children at their developmental level and helping them expand their skills while having compassion and ensuring that each individual gains self-confidence. Although Karen’s primary intention is to help each individual, child or adult, gain self-esteem and find joy, she often utilizes the concept of “occupation” whether it is play, leisure or work related to enhance their purpose in their individual roles, such as student, parent, or worker. A few examples of areas that Occupational Therapists may address include working specifically on sensory processing, fine and gross motor coordination and strength, motor planning, executive function skills through the use of play, leisure or functional tasks.

Karen focuses on helping all people, especially children, to reach their fullest potential with the greatest confidence. Her specialties include, but are not limited to those with Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome. Occupational Therapists work with people across the lifespan to help them promote and participate in daily activities.   Karen received her Occupational Therapy degree at the University of Puget and has been practicing in Missoula since 1998.
